THE ETERNAL RAILROAD TIE

Image
By now you have gotten your summer brochure and packet in the mail if you are on our mailing list. Each year, we fill a bit faster and grow a bit more... what a blessing! There is just something about the buzz around camp during the summer. God is always at work here, but it seems like there are so many stories of what God does week to week during summer. This was the case for me as a young lad (this is Jeremy talking). There was a really cool moment where my counselor showed me some scripture and helped me clear up any doubts of going to heaven. It was a spiritual stake in my life that happened outside Cedar cabin sitting on the railroad tie. Now I find myself many years later trying to tell as many as possible to come to camp so hopefully they can also have a transforming encounter. There are SO MANY awesome things that God does here at camp, this blog will be a place to share some of those. Stay tuned and lift Shamineau up in prayer if you would and we will do our...

SUMMER AT THE SHAMINEAU RANCH

Image
Even though there is fresh snow on the ground here at camp, summer registrations are rollin' in.  Every year, our horse camps fill the fastest, partly because there are limited spots available and partly because they keep coming back for more.  During the Horse Camp week, each kid spends a lot of time with one of our 40 horses, learning to groom, saddle and ride.  Here you see a camper making some good time on her barrel race.  As I take photos of these kids, there might be a stinky pile here and there to avoid (or step in), but it's worth it to see their face light up when they accomplish something new on their horse.  The whole experience is another great way to encounter God's creation.

WELCOMED HEAVY SNOWFALL

Image
After a welcomed heavy snowfall, the normal dig out begins.  This isn't just a normal "hey it snowed" photo, but more of a recognition to all our hard working facilities guys, along with everyone else that pitches in!  It's pretty impressive to me how even when I fight to get my car to camp (like this morning) because the roads by my house are still deep and unplowed, that the fellas here have the main camp road plowed, parking areas clear and starting on the pathways.  So a public thanks to all the behind the scenes workers at Shamineau for all they do to "Clear a way to the Cross" <pun intended>.

FUN IN THE MUD

Image
This is one of my favorite photos from last year's staff training.  It was mud kickball if I remember right, more mud than kickball.  Staff training at Shamineau is more than just learning how to be a good counselor or support staff, its about building a team that will hold each other up through a very challenging yet rewarding summer, to bring kids closer to God.  We still need quality people for this summer, so if you or someone you know should be serving the Lord at camp, give us a holler at program@shamineau.org or 218.575.2240.

SERVE AT SHAMINEAU

Image
Shamineau is looking for a marketing and media intern with a servant's heart for the Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 season.  Learn a ton of marketing skills including: shooting photos and video, video production, graphic design and audio creation to name a few.  Also get training and opportunities to serve in the many departments of camp.  If that wasn't enough, also gain some super practical life skills from things like Financial Peace University, hanging out and learning from the executive director and serving in the community.   Its always amazing to watch young people come through Shamineau's internship program and get prepared for a career position in ministry or the workplace.   If this is something that perks your interest, give me a shout at jeremy@shamineau.org, I would be happy to answer any questions and tell you more about the position.

Flying Around

Image
Getting some aerial ice tower footage for a quick video.  If you have never tried ice climbing, you gotta try!  It's a truly unique experience.  Our ice tower stands 40' tall, has 3 climbable sides and sometimes up the middle.

CAMP LIFE - a Shamineau Blog

Welcome to CAMP LIFE, where you can keep up with what's going on at Camp Shamineau.  This photo is a typical summer site looking towards camp from our 22 acre island.
