BEST SUMMER EVER!
Things are really cranking up here at camp. Pretty much every school day from now until summer we have a couple hundred kids here from school groups while getting everything prepared for summer camp. On top of that, making improvements, building extra bunks, and a ton of planning. Right now I can hear the program dept working through details of staff training to ensure the summer staff is equipped and ready for your kids!
For the last several years, we keep growing in the amount of campers that come to summer camp. This year is no different, if our highly scientific calculations are correct, we should have around 300 or so more campers than last year. This does mean that if you haven't signed up yet, you should get on it, a number of camps have filled but still room in many. It's fun to have kids and families busting down the doors to get here, and we think we know why that is.
I think I can lay it out in a pretty simple formula. Staff + Fun + Gospel. As the marketing guy, I try to read a lot of camper evaluations. We take that feedback to heart so we can better serve our guests. On those evals it is pretty consistent. Kids love their counselors, and the staff normally makes a great impression on kids and parents. We have a great tradition and expectation of fantastic staff. They go through quite the process of interviewing and training. Also on evals, it may or may not be surprising that when asked what their favorite thing to do at camp was, a usual answer is chapel time. You will definitely get the blob, ropes course, horses in the water, but chapel rises to the top. What a great thing, and I am convinced that's the power of the Gospel! The reason you can have the best summer ever here at camp isn't because of all the fun stuff we have to do, although that helps, but it's because God transforms lives here at camp. There's nothing better than that!
