THIS NEWS WILL LAST GENERATIONS!

This is some very exciting news we have been wanting to share with you all, but couldn't until now.  There has been adjacent land to our north that we knew would be up for sale, we just didn't know when.  Well that time has come.  Below is an explanation from our Executive Director, Herb Bloomquist.

In 1958 a group of men and women made a bold decision to purchase the current camp
property. Some said they were crazy to purchase so much land (a mile of lake front!) for so
much money ($35,000), so far away from the cities.

We did it again, only this time it isn’t so far away. On April 27th, 2018, after much prayer and a unanimous approval from the Board of Directors, Camp Shamineau purchased 640+ acres for $1.3 million! One square mile of undeveloped land that directly borders the current
property. It was something that we believe would be foolish to pass up. The current
property that was so remote in 1958 is now experiencing community encroachment and
this addition provides elbow-space for generations to come.

What will we do with it? We have some thoughts and a letter is going out with more details
soon, but immediate expansion ideas include expanded horse trail riding paths and remote
camping experiences for cabin groups. But the real development will be up to our children
and grandchildren. Securing this property for future ministry is our task; deciding how to
best use it for God’s Kingdom will be up to them.

The purchase closing is on June 20th. We have secured a loan for $1 million ($350,000 cash already set aside), but the more cash we can raise between now and June 20th , the less of the loan we need to activate.

Want to help in this historic event? Want to be able to tell your kids, “I remember when WE
purchased that land”? Go to the Shamineau website and make a donation and keep going
back to the website for updates and pictures of the property. Very soon there will be a video
of the land and an explanation of how it might be used.

These are historic days. You can be a part of them.

Last week, a bunch of us staff were able to walk on the property to see it, take some video and to pray over it.  It was a moving time as we realized how impactful this land may be some day.  This whole process has been bathed in prayer, and we would ask that you would join us in that.  Pray for safety on this land, for wisdom in how it will be used, for generous financial support for it's purchase, and that God will use it in incredible ways.  We realize that this decision will impact generations, and we are excited to see how God will use it!
