GOLFING IS "WORK", RIGHT?

For all of us here at camp, now is a time we can take a quick breath and look forward to our fall schedule.  One event we do every year is our golf tournament fundraiser.  I (Jeremy) get to play in it pretty much every year, I guess it's considered "work".  I normally nab my pastor and a couple other friends and put a decently mediocre team together.  The good thing about the tournament is that it is a best ball scramble, so it makes you feel like you are a way better golfer than you really are.

If you aren't familiar, here is how it works... You get four people on your team and everyone tees off.  Then you use the best shot and everyone shoots from there.  If you shank one in the woods, you don't even need to go find it.  Normally mine gets in there pretty deep.  Anyway, after each shot you take the best ball <hence the phrase> and shoot from there.  During the day each player does have to contribute a couple drives so your ringer can't just carry you.  You can also purchase a couple advantages, and of course there are some contests on certain holes.  Longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin on a par 3.

After the round of 18, we head over to camp and enjoy a tasty grilled steak dinner, all included in the fee.  Most times my team gets pretty close to par which is fun, but obviously the purpose isn't so much to win the tournament, but to support Shamineau and help kids get to camp.  All the money we raise at this tournament goes to the scholarship program.  Because of generous people like yourself, we are able to give away tens of thousands of dollars every year to help get kids / families here.  When they come, they will definitely hear the Gospel and of course many respond.

So check your schedule, it's on a Friday (Sept 14th), come at noon, shotgun start at 1:00.  It's always a fun group of people, if you don't have three others, don't worry we can put a team together for you.   See you there!
