MISSING SUMMER YET?
It's been a little cold here the last couple weeks, if you're anything like me you are already missing that summer sun. I also miss the hundreds of kids running around here having a great time. One of my highlights of the summer as the camp photographer was going out to the island each week and watching the island directors belly flop for the kids. It was a fave for a number of reasons... One, everyone likes to see a good belly flop, right? I do. Two, it's not like they did it because it was fun or they just couldn't help themselves, because it hurts. They did it for the kids, every week.
Another highlight from summer was seeing cabin groups everywhere exploring the Bible and chatting through important things. The counselors have the hardest job on camp, but it's also the most rewarding. Summer Fridays are the end of the camper week, and at that time we have a wrap up meeting and share what God did during the week. Most stories come from the counselors and how God used them to bring the Gospel to kids. That meeting is also a great encouragement for everyone else that may be behind the scenes, to know that all the hard work is worth while.
We are already looking forward to next summer. Registration for 2019 will open November 1st online. For this summer we will be adding a couple camps... One is an Adventure Trip for senior highers to the North Shore area, another is a Father & Daughter Island camp after many requests. The last one is adding another family weekend as we just keep growing in that area.
This summer was amazing, we were up almost 300 summer campers plus many more family campers. With that, many decisions for Christ.
We are already hiring summer staff for 2019. If you or someone you know should be working at camp, give a holler or apply online to get the process going. There are already around 50 applications in and some staff already hired, PTL!
So even though I may be missing summer, we are gearing up for a busy fall season. The first Fall Fling starts this weekend. We will see about 2000 kids in the next 5 weekends, pray for great things!
