IT TAKES A VILLAGE!
In the midst of a chilly winter, maybe you want to get away to a warm place to escape the cold. The photo above is from a nice hot and sunny day last summer, of a couple kids having a great time on the lake. As much as this is a very regular thing that happens every day of summer, playing on the lake and having a great time... this photo is actually capturing something that is near and dear to my heart. These are a couple of camp kids (you can air quote that if you want to), meaning kids of full time staff members.
It's such a blessing to have such an amazing community of staff families, the village, to be a big part of our kid's upbringing. They get to have a ton of fun like all the kids that come to camp. They also get to see what hard work looks like, to sometimes sacrifice just a little bit of "me" time to help set something up, go last in line for whatever it is or just serve the campers in some way.
I think this happens at camps all over the place but I really see it here at Shamineau. That village also helps guide and train the summer staff and interns as if they were our own. In turn, those staff then get to serve your kids and pour into them, sharing the Gospel and having a great time doing it.
Thank you to the village that is Shamineau, that not only pours into all of our campers, but also into the kids that happen to be right in front of them every day. What a blessing!
