CAMP UPDATE: JAN 2019

Let's catch you up on what's going on around here...  First of all, why is there a photo of summer camp when it's a high of -5 today?  Well it's because even though we have a ton going on in these cold months, we have to start looking forward to summer, get some things planned and start hiring staff.  It's also exciting because as we watch summer registrations come in, it look like it is going to quite the summer, record breaking for us again.  Right now we have 383 summer campers and 857 family campers signed up.  Summer campers are a little ahead of where we were last year and family campers are close to double this time last year.  We added a family weekend for this summer, good thing.  

Last week we had a board meeting... we have an awesome board.  They totally get camp and it's always an encouragement to go to the meetings.  Anyway, we were talking about summer numbers and the fact that we need new places to put them and will have to build cabins for this summer, and as cash flow is a bit tight, made a plan to work it out financially.  There is a bunch of nerd talk we broke down for them, how many campers they would fit vs. how many we would otherwise have to turn away and income vs. cost...  My favorite comment in the midst of that was... why wouldn't we do this and give a spot for 40 more campers a week to hear about Jesus!  So that's the plan, and what an encouragement from the board. 

Back to winter... Last weekend was our first of two Winter Wipe Out retreats for youth.  We had around 375 last weekend and over 200 for this next weekend.  At these retreats, kids will hear the Gospel and many respond, God is at work!  Then next weekend is Father & Son Weekend.  This is a really funny one to watch registration... just two weeks ago there were like 125 signed up and now over 300.  So dads if you still need to sign up, plenty of time!  JK sign up now...
