10 IDEAS FOR SUMMER ADVENTURE

Even though weather has been up and down, summer is coming, so it is time to plan out some adventures!  The following are some ideas to get you primed for some good old time with family or friends.

Photo Scavenger Hunt
It's pretty simple, brainstorm a list or find one on the googles, split into teams (or not), grab a camera or phone and go!  You can add extra points for creativity, photos that include the whole group or any other guidelines.

Visit a new place
The internets is a great resource.  Search and find a place you have never visited and make it a day!  Bring a picnic, water and snacks!  If you have never been to the North Sore, highly recommend.

Go camping at Family Camp
We have 5 family camps this summer, most are getting pretty full so you will wanna get signed up now.  To be able to welcome more families, we are adding primitive camping spots and boon docking.  Get signed up at www.shamineau.org

Hit some bike trails
Been to Cuyuna in Crosby or any other mountain bike trails?  Last year I went there with my family including a 6th and 7th grader.  I was impressed with the trails they were able to take and they had a blast!  It was challenging and great exercise.

Been to a small town parade?
You never know what gem you might come across at a small town parade.  A number of years ago we actually saw a wedding in a parade that was only about 6 blocks long.  Believe it or not... in the same parade I saw a guy "joggling".  That is a mixture of juggling and jogging.  No kidding!

Car show
I have never had the time or the passion to restore a car, but it is fun to see some really unique cars that have been.  Even if you aren't a car person, you may have fun checking it out.

Lend a helping hand
Know anyone that needs a hand?  Just keep your ears and eyes open for the opportunity.  Maybe it's helping someone move, complete a house project or mow the lawn when they are not able to.  You can be a huge blessing to someone and you may find that you are equally blessed from it!

Go Geocaching
If you haven't done this before, it's kind of a fun treasure hunt.  Bring a couple little trinkets that you can exchange and a pen.  Download a free app and you will see that they are everywhere!  Some a very large and some are tiny.  It's also a great way to break up a long trip when you search for one here and there.

Let the unlikely planner plan
Generally the same person will take the lead in the planning area.  Even though it could be really difficult, sit back and let someone else do the planning.  You might be surprised with what they come up with.

Eat at a restaurant you have never heard of
Ever been to the Pizza Barn in Princeton?  Best pizza in the world that I have found, and I have looked!  Find those off the beaten path type of places.  Some will disappoint you but when you find it, you'll know!  And you will want to go there forever.

So these are just some ideas... of course be safe, wise and all of that.  The important thing is to make some memories and create shared experiences that will last a lifetime!  Have fun and tell us about you adventures.  Better yet, wear your Shamineau gear and post photos on instagram (#campshamineau) and the Facebook.  Have fun!
