5 WAYS TO PREPARE FOR YOUR FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT

Football season is ramping up and many of you may be playing fantasy football.  If you don't know what that is, you basically make a pretend team that you draft (choose) and manage, made up of players from every nfl team.  So you might have a running back from the vikings and a quarterback from the browns.  Then you get points for how well they play, with matchups against your friends and it's a great time.

Drafts are happening right now or very soon so here are 5 ways to prepare for your fantasy football draft.

1.  FUN - The point is to have fun, and having fun is fun, so don't take it too seriously.  Choose a couple players you recognize and actually want to watch their games.  Picking players you don't know gives you a good reason to watch other games too.

2.  DRAFT TOGETHER - This is a lot more fun together, and that's also part of the point.  To have some good fellowship time together.  Also, get together to watch the games and bring lots of snacks.  Warning: keep the red koolaid at home, don't want to spill it in celebratory moments.

3.  CREATIVE CATEGORIES - You do have some ability to change the scoring system, which can be fun.  For example, the camp intern league drafts and plays a head coach position.  There are big points to be won if that team wins or loses by 25 points or more.  So maybe that worst team becomes best!

4.  WHAT'S AT STAKE? - What happens to the last place, or maybe the 4th place, could be random... Often around camp the last place has to jump in the lake.  Might require cutting a hole in it at the end of the season.  Could have to sing a song in public... so many options.  Remember to capture that great moment and share it with the world.

5.  CHOOSE A GREAT NAME - This might be the most important of all decisions for your team.  The internet is full of great ideas, start there or make up your own.  I love watching the vikings and tend to draft a few on my team.  This year I went with "the Magic Skol Bus". "Dalvin and the Chipmunks" and "Diggs in a Blanket" were close favorites.  Feel free to use.  Play on words and puns are always good but humor is key.

So, you could do research til you're blue in the face, but don't forget to have fun!  Put together a good team, remember that your fantasy league also ranks players, so that might help you... Get together with some friends or make some new ones.  Good luck, love to hear how it goes, now get out there!
